1921

  • 13-1-1921: Gandhiji addressed the students of Gujarat Mahavidyalaya
  • 13-1-1921 to 20-3-1923: Shri Trikamlal Mansukhlal Shah on the post of Principal of the Vidyapith.
  • 1-2-1921: National Mahavidyalaya in Mumbai was established by Shri Asudamal Tekchand Gidwani.
  • 14-4-1921: Manipur, on the south side of Kankaria lake, in the bungalow of Sheth Manilal Maganlal, the Shikshan Mandir (for the teachers of Kumar Mandir) started by the Vidyapith(for the teachers of Kumar Mandir) was inaugurated by Gandhiji at 9.00 am.
  • 22-4-1921: Night school started in Kochrab.
  • 10-5-1921: Commencement of Gujrat Kumar Temple at Nava Wadaj.
  • 1-6-1921: Teaching temple started with Shri Manubhai Gopalji Mehta as the Principal.
  • 18-8-1921:Beginning of Arya Vidya lecture series.
  • 13-9-1921: It was decided that the new Gujarati school operating in Ahmedabad on behalf of Gujarat Education Board would be run by Vidyapith.
  • 28-9-1921: A friendly meeting was held at Vidyapith under the chairmanship of Shri Kasturba Gandhi.
  • 31-10-1921: Vidyapith took over the administration of the 'New Gujarati School'.
  • 31-12-1921: Mr. Paul Richard delivered a lecture at Gujarat Mahavidyalaya in the presence of Gandhiji.

1922

  • Shri Rajagopalachari delivered a lecture to the students of Gujarat Mahavidyalaya.
  • 6-1-1922: Gandhiji discussed with Paul Richard.
  • 12-2-1922: Under the invitation of the General Assembly, the Regulatory Assembly passed a resolution to award graduation degree without examination to the senior BA students involved in the national movement.
  • 12-6-1922: The first convocation ceremony of Vidyapith was held under the chairmanship of Shri Vallabhbhai Patel.
  • 7-2022: Sabarmati bimonthly was started by the students of Gujarat Mahavidyalaya and was published for seven years.
  • 22-7-1922: Shri Kasturba Gandhi and Shri Vallabhbhai Patel attended the first discussion council organized at Gujarat Mahavidyalaya and guided the students.
  • 27-8-1922 to 2-10-1922: on the occasion of Gandhiji's birthday, Shri Vallabhbhai Patel requested Navjeevan to collect donations for 'Vidyapith'.
  • 10-2022: Gujarat Puratatva Temple started the quarterly 'Archaeology' on Gandhiji's 54th birthday, which was published till 1928.
  • 15-10-1922: A firm constitution of the governing body of the Vidyapithwas prepared and accordingly all rights were handed over to the newly elected board in the year 1979.
  • 16-11-1922 to 6-2-1928: Shri Jeevatram Bhagwandas Kripalani on the post of Principal of Gujarat Mahavidyalaya.

1923

  • 1-1923: Vidyapith'sSnehSammelan under the Presidency of Mr. Andrews. Before the ceremony, Shri Rabindranath Tagore came to visit Vidyapith along with Mr. Andrews.
  • 1-1923: Along with Sabarmati, supplementary copies of the education related magazine titled 'Vidyapith' started. This magazine was given twice as a supplementary copy.
  • 1-1-1923: Adhyapan Mandir had closed.
  • 9-3-1923: The foundation stone of Vidhyapith's PranjivanVidhyarthi Bhavanwas laid by Dr. Prafulla Chandra Roy.
  • 21-3-1923 to 5-12-1925: Shri Kishorlal Ghanshyamlal Mashruwala again on the post of Principal of the University.
  • 11-12-1923: Second Convocation Ceremony of Vidyapith under the chairmanship of Shri Kasturba Gandhi.
  • Sneh Sammelan in Vidyapith under the chairmanship of Shri Asudamal TekchandGidwani.

1924

  • 20-4-1924: A supplementary copy of the magazine ‘Kenavani’ was started every month along with the weekly ‘Navjeevan’. This magazine was published as a supplementary copy for two years.
  • 10-6-1924: At the beginning of the new year of Gujarat Vidyapith, at Satyagraha Ashram on 12-6-1924, Gandhiji delivered a lecture to the students and professors of the Mahavidyalaya.
  • 22-6-1924: Gandhiji presided over the Gujarat Vidyapith Regulatory Assembly.
  • 1-8-1924 to 3-8-1924: National Education Council held in Ahmedabad under the chairmanship of Gandhiji.
  • 1-8-1924: Gandhiji gave a lecture in the National Education Council.
  • 8-8-1924: To welcome Gandhiji after his release from jail, he was invited to Gujarat Mahavidyalaya. A bag worth Rs. 1229/-, Panchiyas woven by students, bedsheet and at least five tolas of cotton thread spun by each student were presented to Gandhiji. Gandhiji delivered a lecture on this occasion.
  • 12-12-1924: A Sneh Sammelan was held at Vidyapith under the chairmanship of Shri Narharibhai Parikh.
  • 12-1924: Gandhiji had a question-answer session with the students of GujaratVidyapith.

1925

  • 14-1-1925: Gandhiji inaugurated the Pranjeevan Vidyarthi Bhawan of the Vidyapith.
  • The third convocation ceremony of Vidyapith was held under the chairmanship of Gandhiji at 8.30 am in the PranjeevanVidyarthi Bhawan of the Vidyapith.
  • 18-1-1925: Gandhiji presided over the Gujarat Vidyapith Regulatory Assembly.
  • 3-7-1925: Shri Vithalbhai Patel and Shri Jamunadas Mehta visited Gujarat Mahavidyalaya.
  • 4-7-1925: Shri Gajanan Pathak gave a lecture on the architecture of Ahmedabad in the discussion council of Gujarat Mahavidyalaya.
  • 29-7-1925: Mr. Roberts, a resident of America and Professor at Shanghai University of China, visited Gujarat Mahavidyalaya.
  • 5-12-1925: Fourth convocation ceremony of Vidyapith under the chairmanship of Gandhiji.

  • 3-1926: `Along with the ‘Sabarmati’ magazine, the ‘Vidyapith Graduates Association’ started publishing a supplementary copy titled ‘Graduate Department’.
  • 4-5-1926: AICC meeting held in the presence of Gandhiji in the grounds of Gujarat Vidyapith.
  • 14-6-1926: Gandhiji delivered a speech at the beginning of the new year at Gujarat Vidyapith.
  • 24-7-1926 to 20-11-1926: Gandhiji’s Bible teaching programme at Gujarat Mahavidyalaya continued every Saturday with some delay.
  • 15-8-1926: The report of the ‘Vidyapith Inquiry Committee’ constituted under the chairmanship of Principal Shri Anand Shankar Dhruv was published.
  • 3-10-1926: To celebrate Rentiya Baras, Shri Jamnalal Bajaj and Imam Saheb gave lectures under the chairmanship of Seth Shri Ambalal Sarabhai.
  • 9-10-1926: On the basis of the report of Vidyapith Inquiry Committee, Vidyapith Regulatory Assembly passed a resolution.
  • A meeting of Vidyapith Regulatory Assembly was held under the chairmanship of Gandhiji.

1927

  • 15-1-1927: Under Vidyapith Lecture Series, Shri Kishorlal MashruWala gave a lecture and conducted a question-answer session.
  • 9-3-1927: Gandhiji presented his travel experiences before the students of Gujarat Mahavidyalaya.
  • 27-3-1927: The plan to start a Vinay Mandirin Ahmedabad under the direct care of Vidyapith was approved by Vidyapith Regulatory Assembly.
  • 13-6-1927: Gujarat Vinay Mandir was established in a rented house near Bhadra in Ahmedabad.
  • 13-6-1927 to 28-4-1928: Shri Ramanarayan Vishwanath Pathak on the post of Principal of Vinay temple.
  • 18-7-1927 to 30-1-1928: Shri Shyamlal Harilal on the post of Principal of Bhagwati Vidyapith.

1928

  • 1-1928: Shri Sarojini Naidu along with Gandhiji visited Gujarat Mahavidyalaya
  • 15-1-1928: The sixth convocation ceremony of Vidyapith was held under the chairmanship of Gandhiji and with Mr. Andrews as the special guest.
  • Gandhiji unveiled the oil painting of Principal Asudamal Tekchand Gidwani.
  • Sneh Sammelan in the university under the chairmanship of Dr. Sumant Mehta.
  • 16-1-1928: Graduate conference in the university under the chairmanship of Dr. Jeevatram Bhagwandas Kripalani.
  • 28-1-1928 and 29-1-1928: A meeting of the Regulatory Assembly was held in Vidyapith under the chairmanship of Gandhiji.
  • 29-1-1928: In place of Vidyapith Regulatory Assembly, a permanent Gujarat Vidyapith Board was established and 12 objectives were created.
  • 31-1-1928: To establish closer contact with the students, Gandhiji started living in the Vidyapith.
  • 31-1-1928 to 2-8-1939: Narharibhai Dwarkadas Parikh took over the post of Principal of Vidyapith. During his imprisonment in 1930, Shri Maganbhai Desai took over this responsibility.
  • 5-2-1928: Gandhiji wrote an article titled Gujarat Vidyapith in Navjeevan.
  • 7-2-1928: Gujarat Mahavidyalaya organized a farewell program for Shri G.B. Kriplani.

  • 9-10-1928: Shri Poonjabhai Hirachand donated Rs. 25,000/- to Vidyapith for research and publication in the field of Jain literature under which Shri Poonjabhai Jain Granthmala was started.
  • 28-10-1928: Gandhiji wrote an article in Navjeevan titled Gujarat Vidyapith.

1929

  • 11-1-1929: Program of offering Khadi Dakshina on the farewell ceremony of Jivatram Bhagwandas Kripalani by Principal Kripalani Khadi Dakshina Committee under the chairmanship of Gandhiji.
  • Graduate conference in the university under the chairmanship of Shri Kishorilal Mashruwala.
  • 13-1-1929: Sneh Sammelan at Gujarat University under the chairmanship of Shri Jeevatram Bhagwandas Kripalani.
  • 15-1-1929: Seventh Convocation Ceremony of Vidyapith under the Presidency of Gandhiji and Guest of Honour of Principal Shri RamdevJi.
  • 20-1-1929: Gandhiji wrote an article titled Gujarat Vidyapith in Navjeevan.
  • 7-4-1929: Publication of Sarth Gujarati Jodnikosh.
  • 10-6-1929: By uniting Vidyapith Library and Shrimad Rajchandra Gyan Bhandar, it was named 'Gujarat Vidyapith Library'.
  • 20-6-1929: The initiation of Gramseva Mandir.
  • 21-7-1929: The monthly magazine Shiksha evam Sahitya, edited by Shri Dattatray Balakrishna Kalelkar, was started as a supplement to the Navjeevan journal. It continued to be published for nine months.
  • 30-9-1929 to 2-10-1929: In celebration of Gandhiji's Diamond Jubilee, Vidyapith organized a public event and exhibition on the theme of Gandhiji' Diamond Jubilee.
  • 16-11-1929: The Gandhiji Diamond Jubilee Committee presented its report.
  • 22-11-1929: Shri Bipinchandra Pal visited the Vidyapith.
  • 18-12-1929: Shri Vishnu DigambarPaluskar visited the Vidyapith.
  • 29-12-1929: Gandhiji wrote an article titled Development of Vidyapith in Navjeevan.
  • 1929: A committee was formed by Vidyapith under the chairmanship of Shri Vallabhbhai Patel to examine the economic condition of the farmers in the Matar Tehsil. The committee, led by its director, Professor Shri J.C. Kumarappa, prepared a detailed report over three and a half months with the help of students. This original English report was published in 1931.

1930

  • 10-1-1930: Vidyapith organized the Kanchangauri Music Competition.
  • 11-1-1930: The eighth convocation ceremony of Vidyapith was held at 8:30 AM under the presidency of Gandhiji, with Acharya Shri Narendra Dev as the special guest.
  • A graduate conference was held at Vidyapith under the chairmanship of Shri Mahadevbhai Desai.
  • 12-1-1930: A fellowship conference was held at Vidyapith under the chairmanship of Shri Vallabhbhai Patel.
  • 13-1-1930 to 15-1-1930: The All India National Education Council was organized at the Vidyapith.
  • 13-1-1930: Gandhiji inaugurated the All India National Education Council held at Vidyapith
  • 15-1-1930: Gandhiji delivered the closing lecture at the All India National Education Council held at the Vidyapith.
  • 16-1-1930: The Third Hostel Conference and the Second Student Conference were organized at Vidyapith.
  • 17-1-1930: Gandhiji delivered a lecture at the student hostel residents' conference held at the Vidyapith.
  • 3-3-1930: A decision was made in Vidyapith Board meeting to join the Salt Satyagraha Movement.
  • 11-3-1930: Gandhiji addressed the Arun Team formed by Vidyapith students. Subsequently, the Arun Team departed to make arrangements for the Dandi March. The economic investigation of the Matar Tehsil was completed.
  • 12-3-1930: Gujarat College, Gujarat Vinay Mandir, and Gramseva Mandir were closed.
  • 16-3-1930: An announcement was made that Vidyapith would run training classes for students and faculty interested in joining the Salt Satyagraha Movement.
