Prof. Punita Arun Harne has been working as a professor in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication since January 1994. Prior to joining the Department of Journalism at Gujarat Vidyapith, she worked as an editor and translator in 'The Times of India' group of newspapers. Engaged in academic writing and research writing, she has done many biographies, documentaries, essay writing and research paper writing. She has written more than 200 articles and edited weekly supplements as part of her active journalistic career.

After joining Gujarat Vidyapith as faculty, she studied 'Journalism of Surendranagar city weekly 'Samay' as part of her M.Phil studies and that work was published as a book and gained reputation and authority. Similarly, worked under the guidance of Padmashri Dr. Kumarpal Desai on the subject of 'Gujarati Newspapers and Narichetana' as a part of Ph.D studies. This work was published as a book and proved to be a guide to how a scientific approach to research in journalism could work. 'Mahatma Gandhi, Father of Indian Public Relations' is her translated monograph. Besides, she has also worked for Gujarati Vishwakosh, reference texts of Bhavnagar's Arihant Prakashan and coffee table book published by Gujarat State Government on the occasion of Golden Jubilee of Gujarat State. She is also engaged in various types of writing and editing works like many short films, documentary films, more than 10 novels, more than 30 research articles, 7 books, chapter writing in other books, she is also busy in student activities and is the editor of 'Vidyapith', the research magazine of Gujarat Vidyapith.
